Designer/Maker: Rupert Deese (1924-2010)

Description: Stoneware compote with midcentury modernist decoration made by the esteemed California, potter and Harrison McIntosh studio-mate. “Rummy” as Deese was known, taught at Mt. San Antonio College and was was part of the Padua Hills arts colony and Claremont/Pomona crowd along with McIntosh, Millard Sheets, and Sam Maloof. Marked with Deese’s “RD” stamp.

Dimensions: 2-1/2 inches high x 6 inch diam.

Condition: One tiny chip, just under rim and visible in photo.
