  • Designer/Maker: Arthur "Espenet" Carpenter (1920-2006)
    Known professionally as Espenet, Arthur Carpenter was a self taught woodworker who received national acclaim and influenced generations of master craftsmen. Until his death in 2006, Espenet produced "spare but sensuous" furniture and wood turnings in his Bolinas studio that have become synonymous with "California Design."
  • Description: A very early example of Espenet's work. This lathe turned bowl bears his early brand and is numbered "144" - marked "Teak."
