Takesada Matsutani (1937- ), 20th Century Japanese Printmaker/Painter/Sculptor.
Takesada Matsutani
has been exhibiting his abstract art in major exhibitions in Europe,
America and Japan since the early 1960's. Some of the most important
printmaking exhibitions in which his art has been featured include
the 1986 exhibition at the Musee de Louvain-la-Neuve, France (along
with Chillida, Tapies, Miro and others) and the 1987 showing at
the Galerie Eugen Lendl, in Graz. As well, a Matsutani lithograph
was awarded a Bronze Prize at the Osaka Triennale in 1990.
Many galleries
around the world now include Matsutani's original art in their permanent
collections. Some of these are the Davison Art Center, Wesleyan
University, the Museum of Art, Lodz, the Museum of Contemporary
Arts, Helsinki, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.

Vivid and unique, this 1969 etching and aquatint was published by
London Graphic Arts. A branch of the London Arts Gallery on New Bond
Street, London Graphic Arts published and distributed prints by many
important contemporary artists. In San Diego, Orr's Gallery handled
etchings and serigraphs from London Graphic Arts, and this print is
from their original inventory. Signed, titled, numbered (18/30) and
dated (1969) in pencil by the artist and with the London Graphic Arts
blindstamp.
