Eve Gilchrist. San Diego, California. b.1899 – d.1986–
Prominent artist and social leader for years on the San Diego art
scene. Studied under Dong Kingman, George Post, Rex Brandt and Millard
Sheets. She exhibited locally, including several museum shows, and
throughout Southern California. Her work received many awards at juried
exhibitions across the nation and the region, including the Southern
California Exposition in Del Mar.
Mrs. Gilchrist
was extensively involved in organizations promoting art and artists.
She was past president of the San Diego Art Guild of the Fine Arts
Society, a board member of the San Diego Art Institute, a member
of the La Jolla Art Center that later became the San Diego Museum
of Contemporary Art, and a member of the California Watercolor Society.

Oil on Artist Board painting in original custom walnut frame with
La Jolla Art Center tag (now San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art).
Signed circa late 1950’s.
