• Item: "Strange, Beautiful Bird"
  • Artist/Designer: Robert Freimark
University of Toledo, studied with Hal Lotterman and Harvey Littleton. Masters in Fine Arts at Cranbrook Academy of Art, studied with Eliel Saarinen in architecture and Carl Milles in sculpture. Also studied with Israel Abramofsky and Max Weber. One of the five founding members of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society, now the largest print society in the world. Mr. Freimark was one of the first artists to actually print in serigraphy—perhaps the first. The Boston Museum of Fine Art presented an exhibition about 15 years ago pointing this out. He made his first serigraph in 1948 which was a poster for a boxing exhibition in Toledo, OH. At that time, there were no classes and he was left to figure this out on his own. He later switched to lithography, primarily, but has made prints in most of the media.
