- Artist/Designer:
Charles Luedtke – A native of Wisconsin, Chuck was
the
traveling art teacher for seven county elementary schools, and taught
Adult Education as well as University Extension art classes. In 1956
he
moved to Coronado, CA. where he taught high school art for 23 years.
His
main interest is sculpture, both wood and welded metals, but he also
paints in oil, watercolor and encaustic. Luedtke received his B.F.A.
from
the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, and an M.S. in Art Education
from
the University of Wisconsin. He has exhibited widely in Wisconsin
and
California, New York and Florida and is represented in private collections
around the country.

- Description:
Sculpture in pine (& paint) on a walnut base which is
inscribed with “CL.” The title is written in pen on a
card taped under the
base. This sculpture was one of numerous demonstration pieces created
for
his class that illustrates the potential of a pine 2x4.
