Curated by Lawrence Alloway, the “Six Painters and the Object” exhibition was held at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum from March 14-June 12, 1963. Works by Jim Dine, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Andy Warhol. Checklist of the exhibition bound into the center of the publication on contrasting blue stock. Also features an extensive bibliography. Distinctive cover design by Herbert Matter.
