Designer/Maker: Dick Seeger – An innovative artist, craftsman and gallerist who settled in Scottsdale, Arizona in the late 1950s. Seeger’s innovative approach, his use of color and composition helped him become an important figure in Scottsdale’s mid-century art and architecture community. Dick Seeger’s work in the 1960s was based on wood carving techniques applied to plastics in combination with polyester resins and chemical adhesion. For years, the Dick Seeger Design Gallery was Scottsdale’s most colorful and singular outlet for modern design. He is listed in the recent Museum of Arts and design publication “Crafting Modernism: Midcentury American Art and Design,” which also includes an illustration of his work.
